Lori Cohen Obituary

Dr. Lori Ellen COHEN passed on October 4th, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer at age 56.

Dr. Cohen passionately practiced chiropractic and holistic healthcare at her Uintah Family Chiropractic Clinic for over 30 years. She felt privileged to help patients obtain better health and practiced as long as her health would allow. Her devoted patients benefited from her training and passionate focus on women's health issues and their own journey of recovery from cancers.

Lori Cohen was the daughter of Judith and Gilbert Cohen of New York and Florida, both deceased.

She leaves her bereaved brothers and sisters-in-laws Mr. Kenneth and Mrs. Leslie Cohen of Parkland, FL, Dr. Steven Cohen and Dawn Dolson of Washington, NC, Joellyn Cohen of Virginia Beach, VA, her dearest friend, companion and caregiver during her illness, Mr. Jeff Tarbert of Colorado Springs, CO, as well as her cherished puppy Bodhi.

She will be sorely missed by her loving nephews and nieces, Dr. Andrew Cohen and Heather Eastwood of Berkeley, CA, Attorney Joel Cohen of Manhattan, NY, Neil Cohen of San Diego, CA, Ari and Matt Kobren of Delray Beach, FL, Erica and Scott Acheychek of Southport, CT and Jodi and Jonathan Schwartz of Manhattan, NY, she was beloved by her aunts and uncle, Buzz Blumberg of Boynton Beach, FL and Marilyn and Martin Spivack of Framingham, MA.

Lori grew up in New Hyde Park, NY and graduated Palmer School of Chiropractor Medicine in Davenport, IA. Colorado became her home state soon after graduating and she loved her life in the Springs. She was passionate about skiing, hiking and running in the mountains. She had a beautiful bench carved out of recently burned timber installed at a very special spot in Red Rock Canyon that she favored for mediation after a hike or run. With an inscription of "What a Perfect Day!", it is the perfect place to enjoy the view.

Lori loved entertaining when she could share her culinary skills and love of fine wines.

She lived a full life enjoying her work and her private times in her lovely home in Manitou Springs with a spectacular view of Pikes Peak.

She will be so missed by her family, friends and patients!

A memorial service is planned for Monday, November 10th at 10am at Shove Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation at 2550 Tenderfoot Hills St., Colorado Springs, CO 80906.

Lori, thank you for being such a wonderful friend to our family. You were, without a doubt, our wisest, calmest honorary Auntie, and we shall all remember you very, very fondly. We were so fortunate for you to be an influential force in our lives from the moment we three were born. Thank you for everything.
