Lorraine "Cookie" Boyce

Uncle Lou and his wife Mary made my dreams come true by letting me live with them for several months in Colorado. He arranged with his friend "Tandy" to let me take care of "Dell" a thoroughbred Palomino quarterhorse mare, even bringing it to their backyard for me to curry. Every weekend we'd head into the mountains for new escapades of excitment, adventure and thrills. We walked in dinosaur footprints, chopped down our Chhristmas tree, went to the Air Force football game, had sumptuous breakfasts at the Officer's Club Sunday Brunch at the Academy, rock hounded, drove all the way to the top of Pike's Peak just to have a cup of hot chocolate and saw on our way up, a magnificent elk standing so majestically in the mountain mists. They brought magazines and cigars to a mountain hermit, drove down Phantom Canyon Road that made your hair stand on end, saw the rodeo where Lorne Greene (from the TV show "Bonanza") sang "The Place Where I Worship" as the sun was setting, brought a lump to the throat it was so touching. Lou was very optimistic, happy and kind to all. 'Lulu", Aunt Mary's pet name for him, left a legacy of sweet memories to many people. They both share a sacred place in my heart.

Remembering you and the day you walked me down the aisle for my wedding 40 years ago on 06-04-78. I'm still together with the love of my love and now you're back together with yours. Love ya. Gale
