Louis Denton Obituary

Louis Denton passed away suddenly at his home on November 23, 2014 in Colorado Springs, CO.

Lou was born in Gillette, Wyoming on April 12, 1928 and went to school in a one room school house in his early years before moving to Cheyenne during high school. He attended the University of Wyoming where he received his B.S. in Accounting in 1955 and CPA in 1964.

He served in the Army Counterintelligence Corps in Japan during the Korean war and started his career with Arthur Andersen & Co. in Chicago where he met his wife, Victoria, a RN and they married in 1959. She preceded him in death in 2000. They moved to Colorado and Lou became Controller at Rocky Mountain Natural Gas and then went to Colorado Interstate Corp. In the 70's he went on to become Controller at Northwest Energy Company in Salt Lake City. They later moved to California and Lou retired from Ultramar, Inc. in 1994.

Lou appreciated the beauty of the natural western landscape and that is why he moved back to Colorado Springs in his later years. He had a fondness for Old West art and exploring old ghost towns. Following in his mothers' footsteps, he immersed himself in oil painting, often painting landscapes and animals.

He also enjoyed creating Ukrainian Easter eggs and garnered an impressive collection. A dyed in the wool Utah Jazz fan, he didn't miss a game. He was a gentle, friendly soul always quick with a quip or joke. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his daughter, Valerie and son Gregory (Carrie) and three beautiful grandchildren, Ben, Lauren and Gavin, many lifelong and new friends as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial celebrating his life will be held at a later date.
