October 20, 2024

Louise "Lou" (Rinkob) Sherman passed away on October 20, 2024, in Colorado Springs, Colorado where she lived for the last 56 years. Born on August 4, 1937, in Baraboo, Wisconsin, Lou dedicated her life to education. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, she embarked on a rewarding career that spanned several decades, leaving a lasting impact on her students. She worked as a special education teacher at Explorer Elementary in ASD #20 for over 30 years with a passion for teaching students how to read. Lou was a devout member of Sunrise United Methodist Church, where she played flute in the orchestra. Her interests outside of her professional life included gardening and reading; activities that brought her great joy and relaxation.

Lou is survived by her son, Steve of Colorado Spring and sisters Kris Cooper and Corrine Rassmussen of Cable, Wisconsin; granddaughters Tia, Lindsay, Mariah, Catherine, Savannah, and Rylee; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Jack; son, Tim; daughter, Pam; and grandson, Adam.

Lou's life was marked by her dedication to her family, her passion for teaching, and her commitment to her faith. Her legacy will be cherished by her loved ones and remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to The UCCS Reach Your Peak Scholarship through the following link: https://giveto.uccs.edu/campaigns/49778/donations/new

A celebration of life service will be held at Sunrise United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 18th at 1:00 pm.

Our deepest condolences to the Sherman family. Lou Sherman helped our son tremendously when he attended Explorer Elementary School. She was the sweetest, nicest, and most patient teacher. So sorry for your loss. Sincerely, The Hamilton Family.
