Lucille Gargala Obituary

Lucille Mildred (Evans) Gargala, 73, of Monument, died peacefully at home, Monday June 10, 2013, after a 2 year battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born November 1, 1939 in Cavalier County, North Dakota to Clifford Lee Evans and Helen Veer Evans. They moved to Saskatchewan, Canada and in 1954 to Boise, Idaho and in 1959 she met and married the love of her life, Francis Paul Gargala of Steubenville, Ohio. Life as an Air Force spouse took her to many new places, to include: Casablanca, Morocco; Columbus and Dayton, Ohio; Fort Walton Beach, Florida; back to Boise, Idaho and finally Colorado, where they put down roots and remained for the next 42 years. Along the way Lucille participated in many organizations and activities to include: Eglin AFB NCOA Wives Auxiliary, Penrose Hospital Auxiliary volunteer, Treasurer of the Women's Guild St. Peter Church, Black Forest High Altitude Garden Club, local chapter of the American Heart Association, and numerous Genealogical Societies. Lucille was an avid and award winning baker, brilliant seamstress, and superb gardener. For many years she also found time to do lots of bowling with Frank and friends. As her energy for bowling faded she found a passion and gift for genealogy, at which she excelled. Her love of family fueled her passion for life. She especially loved her six grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Francis (Frank) Gargala of Monument; son, Darrell (Molly) Gargala of Monument, and their children, Adam, Matthew, Amy, Brianna; daughter, Lois (John) Osborn of Larkspur, and their children, John and Hannah; and son, James (Amy) Gargala of Des Moines, Iowa; sister, Carrie (Joe) Isaak of Boise, Idaho; brothers, Dale (Connie) Evans of Nampa, Idaho; Ron (Rogene) Evans of Boise, Idaho; and Gene (Diane) Evans of Kuna, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her father, Clifford Evans; mother, Helen Veer Evans; step-mother, Eileen Evans; sister, Delores Revels; sister, Eileen Lawrence; and brother, Wesley Evans. Friends may call 6:30PM-8:30PM, Friday, June 14, 2013 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 55 N. Jefferson St., Monument, CO 80132. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00AM Saturday, June 15, 2013 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 55 N. Jefferson St., Monument, CO 80132.
