Lucy Garcia de Alvarez died at the age of 80. She worked as a maid in the Catskill Resort Area for most of her life. She defined her goals as to give an education to all her children, to provide with strong principles so that her kids would lead others by virtue and by exemple. In short, Lucy had shown how tenacity and stamina would help anyone to follow a path to try and try and never surrender. Enduring her way in NJ, NY and lately in Colorado, she was like the granite of NH; however the granite has been weakened by the frequent illness. She went away on December 27 at her home to join her son Miguelito. She is survived by her three children, seven grandchildren and two beautiful great granddaughters. A mass will be dedicated to her at the Church of La Virgen de Guadalupe.

Para ti Abuelita mía.
Tu que decidiste empacar tus maletas y forjar un nuevo mundo en tierras lejanas. Dejando atrás todo lo conocido, con la promesa de encontrar algo mejor para ti y los tuyos. Tu que trabajaste duro, para educar a los tuyos. Tu que encontraste mi primer trabajo, tu quien me compartió su carro con la condición que siga mi camino. Tu quien me dijo "Mijo, pa tras ni pa coger viada - Chucha sigue peleando".
Abue, el poco tiempo que viví contigo fue suficiente para ver de donde proviene la tenacidad y la fuerza de luchar. Gracias por tu ejemplo, tu energia, y esa manera única de afrontar la vida.
Le pido a Dios que te de la bienvenida, que te otorgue el amor y ternura que hubieses deseado, y que disfrutes viendo los frutos de tu vida.
A mi Ma, Tia/Tio, y familia, me uno en dolor en este día, sintiendo mucho su partida. Los quiero mucho
