Lucy Romero, 89, passed away in Aurora, Colorado, surrounded by her family. Lucy was born in Los Valdeses, Colorado to Adolfo and Matilde Pacheco.
She was a long-time member of the Colorado Springs Community and St. Mary's Cathedral until she took ill and moved in with her daughter in Aurora. In Aurora, she attended St. Michael's Catholic Church. Lucy was a devout Catholic and while a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, Lucy belonged to the Funeral Reception Committee.
Lucy was a very sociable person and had many friends; but family was her number one priority. She loved her grandchildren and cherished the time she spent with them. She loved entertaining and was always planning a celebration for someone. Never one to turn down an invitation, she was always ready to join in all activities, to include dancing, karaoke, supporting her grandchildren in sports, professional sports, going out to eat, festivals and concerts.
Lucy is preceded in death by her parents Adolfo and Matilde Pacheco; her husband Ervin Romero (2009); sisters Molly, Tina, Vera, Mary, Julia; brothers Leo, Charlie, Alex, Jake, Albert and Lalo.
Lucy is survived by two daughters, Maria Gius and Yvonne Weyand (Bob); one son, Michael Romero (Pam); grandchildren, Holly (Jon), Ira (Heather), Thomas, Brendan Weyand; Cody, Joseph (Monica) Romero, and Andre Torres. Great grandchildren, Emilio, Dominic, Leticia Romero; Luke, Emma, Elias and Liam Torres, and numerous nieces and nephews. And of course, her grand pups, Lacey, Achilles, Apollo, Rocky, Ares, Odie, Zuko, Bella, Sadie and Shelby. Lucy was also the last surviving elder of an extensive family on both sides (Pacheco – 12 and Romero – 6).
Her family would like to thank the wonderful CNAs and nurses at Shalom Park, as well as the Hospice Care providers.
Lucy's favorite colors were pink, turquoise, and purple (she did not like black). If you will be attending her funeral, we would like to invite you to join us in honoring her by wearing her favorite colors.
