Lucy Sanders Obituary

On September 11, 2011, Lucy Gale Sanders, "LU", 16, went to heaven to be with her beloved grandmother, Barbara "GAGA" Johnson Tarr. Lucy was born on January 19th, 1995, in Lexington, KY. Lucy made Houston her home for the last 10 years, and most recently Montgomery, TX where she was a junior at Montgomery High School.

Lucy loved her three dogs, going to the lake, and spending time with her countless friends. She loved to stay up late, text her friends, watch TV and sleep in. She perfected the art of shopping. Lucy also enjoyed helping other people whenever she could. A selfless heart defined her. She was a member of the girl scouts, FFA and volunteered at the local hospital.

Lucy will be forever loved and remembered by her parents, Steve and Jackie Sanders; brother Patrick John Sanders. Lucy also leaves behind her great Grandfather, Ewart "Big Daddy" Johnson, great Grandmother, Josephine Tarr, both Grandfathers, Ron Sanders Sr. and Jack Tarr, Grandmother Jacqueline Sanders, step Grandmother, Ruth Sanders; her many aunts, Sharon, Jennie, Ajay, Shea, Stephanie and uncles: Ronnie and Mark. Her cousins; Amanda, Micaela, Julie, Ron III, Maggie, Katie, Joey, Alice, Suzie and Henry and her BFF Travis Montgomery.

Lucy's life was so very short, but for those who were touched by her, understood the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which she lived. Her gentle smile and infectious laughter could melt the hearts of those around her.

Services will be held on Thursday, September 15th at 11 A.M. at St. Matthews Catholic Church, 9915 Hollister Street, Houston, Texas 77040. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 14th from 5-8pm with Rosary beginning at 8pm in the Chapel of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, in Montgomery. Pallbearers, Jason Trummell, Travis Montgomery, Jerry Herd, Tim Fuhrmann, Michael Yarson, Ron Sanders, Jr.; Honorary Pallbearers, Uncle Bob Johnson, Scott Gullett, Ray Paton, Cory Kirk, Ward Colt, Chris Baker, Chris Hollis, Uncle Jim Tarr and Uncle Jeff Tarr.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lucy's name to your local SPCA or American Cancer Society.

Steve, Jackie, and Patrick,
I can't imagine what you are all going through right now. Lucy was such a wonderful young lady that brought smiles to the faces of so many people in her all too short life. As difficult as this is right now, try to hang on to those memories. May God bring some semblance of peace to each of you in the coming days. My thoughts and prayers are will you.
