Lucy Valdez, age 76, passed away peacefully on Thursday March 22, 2018 in Colorado Springs. She was born December 29, 1941 in Maxwell, New Mexico to Marigarito Grine and Ignacita Gallegos. Lucy was raised and attended schools in Pueblo until she married Simon Valdez and they moved to Colorado Springs where they lived together for 59 wonderful years. Lucy was a stay at home mom and cared for their five children. Later in life, she was employed at Current, Inc. as a production clerk for 12 years. After retirement, Simon and Lucy traveled to several places in the US and Canada until she was not able to travel.
Lucy is survived by her husband, Simon; sons, Lee and Larry; daughter, Donna; and 7 grandchildren. She was predeceased by daughters, Lydia and Janet. Lucy was the youngest of her parent's children and is survived by siblings Carmen Atencio, Frank Grine, and Gloria Gonzalez.
It was always a delight to be around Lucy. She was a loving, supportive wife, mother and grandmother. She loved preparing meals for the family, enjoyed bingo and attending Cripple Creek.
Lucy requested that no services be held; however, her family elected to have a rosary for her. Family, friends and others whose lives she touched are invited to the rosary at Corpus Christi Church, 2318 N. Cascade Ave, at 7:00pm on April 3, 2018. A memorial for immediate family only will be held at Cappadona Funeral Home at 10:00 am on April 4, 2018.
