Luis Cortez Obituary

Luis "Louie" Cortez April 28, 1960 - December 5, 2011 Louie was born April 28, 1960 and he passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on December 5, 2011 in Bakersfield, CA. Louie was preceded in death by his father, Raul Cortez Sr.; brother, Raul Cortez Jr. and sister, Rosa Cortez. Louie was a caring father, grandfather, brother and uncle. As a teenager he was a boxer and that love of boxing continued throughout his life. He enjoyed fishing trips and going to the casino. He also had a love for basketball. His greatest joy was spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. He had a huge heart and was loved by all who knew him. Louie is survived by his daughters, Camellia and Tina Cortez; mother, Mary Cortez; granddaughters, Nina Acosta and Haylee Hernandez; grandson, Anthony Hernandez; sisters, Beatrice Lara and husband Mike and Elena Figueroa and husband Ralph; brother, Paul Cortez and wife Gina and numerous nieces and nephews and the love of his life, Nina Terrazas. His love for his family, contagious laugh and smile, and wonderful sense of humor will forever be missed. A very special thank you to Odyssey Hospice for his end of life care.
