Lupe Valdez Obituary
Lupe leaves behind his wife Bernarda S. Valdez and his children Anthony (Cissy) Valdez, Marcella Sanchez, Celestina Muniz (foster daughter), 5 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
As a child Lupe grew up in Holly, Colorado. He joined the Army in 1942 and served in two wars, WWII and the Korean War as a Sergeant and was honored with the Purple Heart.
On October 17, 1952, Lupe married the love of his life. His memory will forever be treasured by his wife and friend of 61 years, Bernarda (Solórzano) Valdez. Shortly after the couple married they moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado where Lupe spent the rest of his life. He was fortunate enough to travel the world with his beloved "Bernie" by his side. He was an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and participated in various charity groups. Lupe had a servant's heart and loved helping others. He was full of life and well loved by all who knew him.
A Rosary service is planned for 6:00 p.m., Monday, November 11, 2013 at Swan-Law Funeral Director's Cascade Chapel, 501 N. Cascade. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 12, 2013, Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2715 E. Pikes Peak, with burial following at Evergreen Cemetery. Reception to follow immediately after burial at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
In lieu of flowers you may choose to send a donation to Jude's Children Hospital in his name.

My gpa, I wasn't there to see you, and couldn't make the funeral , my heart broke so deeply, as I knew you as my father also. You loved me no matter . I will miss you gpa. But I know your spirit will be with me always. I will see you again , this I know....I love you grandpa....

Lupe and Bernie were the loveliest neighbors one could ask for. I am lucky to have gotten to know Lupe and was blessed by his smiles and kind heart. God's peace to all who mourn him.
