Lura Fredrick Obituary

Fredrick
Lura (Lyons) Fredrick
1957 - 2017
While celebrating her 60'th birthday in Maui, our beloved Lura (Lyons) Fredrick joined her parents Robert and Elma Lyons in Heaven on November 3, 2017. Lura, named after her Aunt Lura Camardello, was born into a military family in Anchorage, Alaska on Halloween in 1957. Lura's legacy will continue through her Best Friend and husband of 34 years, Steve Fredrick, sister Joy Mangan, brother Bob Lyons, brother-in-law Rohry Mangan, 8 nieces and nephews, 12 great nieces and nephews, 2 great-great nephews, and cousins, all that she adored and loved. She is also survived by her beloved Golden Retriever Daughters: Lizzie, Aspen and Callie who will provide their love and comfort to Steve.
Lura was a woman of deep and growing faith, a best friend to all and her beautiful and contagious smile would brighten anyone's day. She was a successful business woman serving as president of Shirt Stop of Colorado Springs for over 26 years. She volunteered in the community working through her church and outreach programs such as Meal on Wheels, Calvary Prime Timers and Heart Friends, New Life Women's Connect team and Hospitality team, and was always searching for ways to make the world a better place. Lura was always willing to go 110% when she heard, or sensed in her heart, that someone needed comfort, support, or prayer in their life.
Gathering with family and friends was at the top of her fun list. So in her memory, we ask that you join us in celebrating Lura's life on November 25th @ 2 pm at the Norris-Penrose Event Center 1045 Lower Gold Camp Rd # 3, Colorado Springs, CO 80905, where we will, with tear filled smiles, honor her with our love and memories. Attire for this celebration will be Hawaiian shirts or yellow, orange, or red apparel to represent the sunrises and sunsets that Lura loved.
Lura was loved by so many, to make sure that we have enough space for everyone please email [email protected] with your name and number attending. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lura's name to National Mill Dog Rescue, Humane Society of Pikes Peak Region or the American Heart Society.
Treasure your memories of Lura through sharing and spreading the love you feel with your loved ones and others. May the song, "This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!" remain in our hearts and minds, trusting that our dear Lura would want nothing less from all of us. Always look heavenward with a smile on your face knowing that Lura is smiling right back at you.

Sorry I'm so late, just found out about Lura. We used to work at Penrose where we became friends. I remember how much she loved music esp. the song Sentimental Lady. She soars with the angels now. Randy

Steve, our hearts hurt when we heard the news. Lura was such a bright spot in Section 11 at New Life where we sit with you. She was always interested in our family and especially my own health. We will miss her beautiful smile and encouragement each Sunday.

To Steve and All Things Fredrick, We are beyond heartbroken upon hearing this news. We go way back to the "old" shop and so many softball tournaments. Working with Shirt Stop was never business.....simply fun and friendship. Lura's warm smile, creative ideas and positive attitude made Shirt Stop the special place it has always been. We are keeping you in our prayers,Steve, and will always keep Lura in our hearts. God Bless!

Lura was a classmate of mine at Palmer High School. After graduating, we lost touch and then I ran into her when she worked at Penrose Hospital. My mother was a nurse there and was hospitalized there. I ran into Lura during one of my visits to my mom -- and Lura was so genuinely gracious, comforting, and friendly when we had the chance to chat. She was truly a bright light in this world. Condolences to her family.

I knew Lura since I believe in 1997 when I first worked for her and Steve , it was at the old shop then . They were and are the bestest employers . She was too. She was always always there for me . We had great and fun talks . I loved her girls to the fullest . Still do. I'm their Auntie Jules she would say. This is the only job that I got rehired 5 times, haha who has ever done that ?? Time went on and and we remained close friends and house sat for her. I'll miss calling the shop and asking for her. Or let's have lunch , she'd add at your favorite place (HuHot )? She introduced it to me and the rest is history. I love you Lura ! ❤ I'll always be checking on the girls too.

My dear sweet cousin. It is so very hard to find the words to say. You were an angel and I am so happy I was able to be in your life. I have so many fond memories of you and will cherish them forever. I am so happy that whenever we were together we would make sure we took a "3 Luras" picture. I will miss you, your happy lovable contagious spirit but I know you are alright. I know you are watching over all of us. I love you Lura xoxoxoxoxo

Lura was one of the special ones. We knew her through our daughter, Linda Williams who has worked for Steve and Lura for many years. Lura was always a cheerful person who always asked about your family. Her bright smile and beautiful laugh will be greatly missed by all. Especially me when I come to visit my daughter at work

I knew Lura at Penrose Hospital and then years later, she recognized my voice when I was working on a campaign and she was making shirts. We had a long catch-up talk and she was her usual jovial self. I am sorry to hear of her death. You must be full of wonderful fun memories. I'm thinking of you.
