Luther Eugene Webb, known to friends as "Gene" passed away on January 18, 2024 at Pikes Peak Hospice. He was 82 years old. He was born on January 31, 1941 in Kentucky to Columbus and Martha Webb. He met his wife Angela (Theisen) in Chicago where they were married on November 30, 1963. He has been a resident of Colorado Springs since 1996.
Gene started working for Western Union at the age of 16, and after retirement, he started working for MCI and moved to Colorado Springs in 1996. He retired from MCI in 2004. He is a long-time parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and has been active in many organizations within the parish. Gene was kind and generous, he loved helping people wherever he could. He loved his family, and as we grew, he delighted in his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gene found joy in many activities with his friends and family; from outdoor adventures fishing and hiking to indoor fun with football games and gatherings. He was well known for his enthusiastic participation in tailgating wherever he could set it up.
He is survived by his wife, Angela Webb; his four children, Theresa (David) Stevens, Regina (Douglas) Adams, Michael (Lisa) Webb and Victoria Webb; his seven grandchildren, Ann (William) Mierzejewski, Brian (Lauren) Stevens, Danielle Adams, Jessica (Benjamin) Brown, Gregory (Hayley) Stevens, Katherine Webb and Thomas Webb; his four great-grandchildren, William Mierzejewski, Rebecca Mierzejewski, Viola Adams and Evan Brown; his sister Annie Evelyn Kennamore and his brother Jackie Webb along with many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Shirley Slaby, brother Jimmy Webb and his great-granddaughter Lorelei Brown.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on January 30, 2024 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2650 Parish View, Colorado Springs (Phone 719-500-5031). Viewing begins at 9:30am, Rosery at 10:00am, and Mass begins at 10:30am. There will be a Luncheon gathering at the Church immediately after services.
Flowers can be sent directly to St. Frances of Assisi Catholic Church (see address above).
