Lynn Jenkins Obituary

Lynn C. Jenkins, 71, passed away peacefully in his apartment, Saturday, February 3,2007. Lynn was born August 6, 1935, in Clinton, Nebraska, the son of Bruce and Clair Jenkins. His parents and a brother, Kim, preceded him in death. Lynn grew up on farms in Nebraska and New Plymouth, Idaho. As a boy, he loved animals, especially his pet dogs, which followed him everywhere. After the death of his mother, Lynn lived with a loving aunt and uncle, Frances and Will, ard Hess, Jr. and their five children, in Clinton and Gordon, Nebraska, for nearly twenty years. He moved to Colorado Springs in 1977, and was affiliated with Cheyenne Village for nearly 30 years, where he had many loving and caring counselors and friends. He worked at Tuscarora until he retired in 2001. Lynn enjoyed photography, watching the Denver Broncos, and taking walks with his best friend, Wayne. Lynn was an active member and Deacon in the Community of Christ church and was dearly loved by the entire congregation. Over the years he was one of the first ones to arrive on Sunday, making sure that the sanctuary was prepared and the walks swept or shoveled. His pride and joy was his nephew, Steve Nelson, his niece, Teri Rankin, and four great nieces, Kelcey, Kristen, Moriah, Sarah, and Sarah's husband, Don. He is survived by a sister, Yvonne Nelson, of Colorado Springs. A memorial service will be held at Community of Christ, 2502 Palmer Park Blvd., Thursday, February 8, at 2:00 p.m .. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to Cheyenne Village, 6275 Lehman Dr., Colorado Springs, Colorado, 80918; or Outreach International, P.O. Box 210, Independence, Missouri, 64051.

Sarah & Don Bracken

February 6, 2007

There is no one that will tell you they didn't care for him. He was full of laughs, smiles, love, and life. He made friends with everyone, and loved to give them nicknames. He was also quite the jokester, and very playful. We will miss him greatly, but we are so thankful and blessed for the time we had and the memories that were made.
It saddens us that we are so far away, but it doesn't mean we aren't there with everyone in our hearts.
All our love,
