I can't believe this. I won't believe this. Not when I have such strong images of L.D. at 17 and 18-yrs-old, striding through Senior Hall at Palmer H.S. alongside 20 of his closest friends, all wearing Levis 501s, laughing and joking, giving side-eye to any juniors or sophomores who would dare intrude into the hallowed senior hall (who quickly got the message and skedaddled). Not when I can clearly remember hearing him at school, parties, basketball games, and football practices shouting "Silverstein!", "Ginooooo!", "SeegeRRR!","Arch-u-LET-a!", always overemphasizing the T, and all his buds shouting back "L.D!", with the D extra-loud like in the "de-fense" basketball cheer. He cherished and prioritized his friends and his relationships. Such deep love he demonstrated. That kind of energy does not go away.
I can't think of him as being gone; his place in my heart will not go. My condolences to all who knew him. He would want you to remember the fun times, enjoy people around you now, keep yourself open to love, and be present during all the little and big moments to come.
