Deacon Lynn Charles Sherman passed away peacefully at home on the Feast of St Stephen at the age of 76. Born 18 February 1946 in Brockton, Massachusetts to Julian Sherman and Elsie Myers, he led a life of dedicated service: to family, Church, fellow Deacons, Police Officers, and community.
He was husband of 54 years to his beloved bride Barbara Orgeron; proud father of Roger Sherman and Theresa Sherman. For 33 years served as Permanent Deacon in parishes of Louisiana and Colorado Springs, building a parish and St Benedict Church in Falcon, CO, and shepherding countless. As Policeman and 911 Center Director for 34 years, he was once introduced by a man to a small child as "the man who sent me to jail and helped me go straight so I could be your dad."
Lynn was a news broadcaster, an outstanding marksman, twice published book author, poet, painter, teacher, blackbelt in karate, weaver of multi-hour tales, perpetuator of poor puns, musician, woodworker, curious adventurer riding his Harley, gold panning and metal detecting.
He awaits in heaven his wife and playmate, Barbara, daughter Theresa, son Roger, daughter-in-law Miranda, and grandson Reid Sherman.
Funeral Mass is 11:00, 11 Jan 2023 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Alexandria, VA followed by internment at Bethel Cemetery, Wilkes St, Alexandria VA
