Mable Aloha
(Rocker) Svienty
March 13, 1926
December 3, 2022

Mable Aloha (Rocker) Svienty – born on March 13, 1926, in Seward, Nebraska has gone to be with her loved ones early December 3, 2022. She was born to Bessie May Snyder & John F. Rocker who were poor tenant farmers; she and her 5 sisters, 1 brother lived in Nebraska, and eastern Colorado during the Depression and Dust Bowl. They moved to Bentonville, Arkansas when Mable was 12, from there she embarked on an adventure of moving to Denver to live with an aunt, Edna Snyder, to attend George Washington High School. Graduating early at the age of 17, Mable moved out on her own and worked as a switch board operator at Mountain Bell Telephone. After high school she enjoyed going to the mountains with friends and dancing. She met her future husband, Ignatius (Jimmy) Svienty thru a mutual friend. He was an MP in the Army-Air Corp stationed in Denver, they married on November 9, 1945. After WWIl was over, they moved back to his hometown of Chicago where their first daughter, Andrea was born in 1946. Now a stay-at-home mom, Mable kept busy visiting with her many sisters-in-law and their children. While pregnant with her second daughter, Charmaine, Mable discovered she had tuberculosis. She then spent the rest of her pregnancy in a Chicago Sanitorium away from her family for a total of 11 months. While in the sanitorium she perfected her skills of sewing, learned to crochet and many other little crafts. In 1954 the family decided to move back to Colorado and settled in Colorado Springs. Jimmy and Mable started Acme Fire & Safety Equipment Co at 402 E. Brookside St on a lot full of trees. She and Jimmy grew that little business to be quite successful and she ran the office side of the business full time until well into her 80s. Her little gray poodle, Mimi, was a constant at work every day with her, and later on it was her pomeranian mix Little Fella. Mable loved the changing colors of the autumn leaves in the mountains, played bridge with lady friends from church from the 1950s thru the 1990s, old school country music, Labor Day hot air balloons, and when gambling came to Cripple Creek, the slots became her newest hobby. She was quite lucky for many years.Mable was quietly a generous person, who behind the scenes, helped many relatives when they needed it.She corresponded with friends and family all across the country and kept in contact with high school friends, cousins, etc up until they passed. Mable is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy, and daughter Andrea. She is survived by her sister, Cora Grubb; daughter, Charmaine (Mark) Ruby, son-in-law James Zednik; grandchildren, Diane Zednik, Nicholas Zednik, Stephan Zednik (Kristin, Emily); great-grandchildren, Leighann (Hunter) Filonowich, Victoria (Kevin) Brown, Rebecca & James Zednik, and Tiffany (Andrew) Shores (great-great-granddaughter, Saphira).
