Maggie Reilly Obituary

Maggie Reilly passed away peacefully on 3 December 2009, after a lifetime of supporting her extended family. She was born Margaret Ann Meehan in Brooklyn, on 5 October 1922, part of a large extended New York Irish family. She remained there working secretarial jobs until her mid-20's when she married her Navy flier boyfriend, Raymond Reilly on 29 June 1946. Ray and Maggie started out life together living over the Flatbush Boys Club where Ray worked with the Brooklyn youth. It was there that their two sons were born. They soon moved to a small cute house in Brooklyn, where the first of their three daughters arrived. In June 1954, encouraged by friends who had made the move, they relocated to Colorado Springs, where the last two daughters were born. In Colorado, Maggie took care of the active family, and helped oversee a menagerie of animals, including chickens, geese, and goats who provided eggs and milk for many years, as well as many generations of cats and dogs, and (of course) "Woody" the donkey. Ray, Maggie, and the kids enjoyed camping and fishing almost every summer, usually in a home-built tent trailer. Maggie always seemed to have the best fishing luck… Ray and Maggie were regulars at the Pikes Peak Rodeo, on the square dancing hardwood, and at the "Y." In her 50's Maggie took up running, specializing in the 5K, conquered Pikes Peak, and won a shelfload of trophies for her age group. Maggie was preceded in death by her husband Ray, and youngest daughter Laura Grace. She leaves behind a loving family, including children Raymond Jr., John, Patricia, and Regina, and 8 grandchildren and and two great grandchildren. Maggie's last days were spent at Sunrise Senior Living in Colorado Springs, which she loved very much. Her best friend "Cleo," an incredibly friendly Labrador retriever, was bequeathed to Sunrise, and will continue to take care of Maggie's friends there. Casket viewing and rosary will be at Swan-Law at 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM respectively on Tuesday, 8 December. The funeral will take place at Corpus Christi Church on Wednesday, 9 December at 10:30 AM.
