Mamie Shriver Obituary

Mamie Ruth Shriver, 85, of Monument, Colorado, passed to the loving arms of her Father on June 19, 2015. She died at home from complications of diabetes and kidney failure.

She was born Mamie Ruth Emma Stoecker on May 28, 1930 in Winters, Texas to Carrol and Mamie Stoecker. She was raised in Winters with her two brothers and two sisters. She finished high school there and moved to San Antonio, Texas where she joined the United States Air Force in 1950. She traveled the world through the military. Ruth served on military cargo planes for twelve years. She was honorably discharged as a disabled veteran in 1962. She had attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.

She married Audra Ray "Jack" Shriver on November 25, 1964 in San Antonio, Texas and together they had 3 children. She served as a loving wife, homemaker, mother and grandmother.

Ruth and Jack were longtime residents of Abilene, Texas until they moved to Monument, Colorado in January 2009 to live with her son, Phillip and his family.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jack of Monument, Colorado; children: G. Ray (Carol) Shriver of Alexandria, Virginia, Paula (John) Streger of Land O' Lakes, Florida and Phillip (DiGi) Shriver of Monument, Colorado; brother, Paul Stoecker of Winters, Texas; grandchildren: Cody Steger of Land O' Lakes, Florida, J. Avery Shriver, Caden Andrew Shriver, Sara Grace Shriver and Emma Hope Shriver, all of Monument, Colorado.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Carrol and Mamie Stoecker; brother, Herb Stoecker; sisters, Naomi Romans Givens and Nadine Bedford.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado, 80910.

Graveside services and military honors will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery 4400 Kenyon Avenue, Denver, Colorado 80236 on Thursday, June 25th 2015 at 12:15 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor Gail Mundt of Christ the King Lutheran Church.

The family would like to thank Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care for their wonderful service over the last six months.
