Grandpa Manny will be greatly missed. I remember him telling me after I married his granddaughter, "I want you to call me Grandpa from now on." I always did. He had a way of welcoming people in to a larger family and he impacted many lives for the better--mine included.
Grandpa Manny also taught me that sometimes the simplest response is the best. I'll never forget his "Yeah...OK" and "Anyway..."
I've been blessed to know such a wonderful man. We love you, Grandpa!

Grandpa will be missed. He carried with him an energy that crumbled barriers and welcomed friendship and laughter. Grandpa respected ALL walks of life as well. I remember him feeding a squirrel and her babies every day. The squirrel would actually scratch on his screen door until he came out with peanut butter in his hand!
Grandpa was thoughtful and loved to make people smile. He made wooden gifts (I think everyone remembers his great wooden chapel on his porch), played the harmonica, and gave of his time to show others that we all can make a difference if we act from the heart.
Grandpa was full of heart! His great faith and love for God showed through his actions as well as his words. I have no doubt that Grandpa was welcomed with open arms to Heaven's Gate and told "Well done, Manny!"
We love you, Grandpa!

While we never had the privilege of knowing Manny personally, we are blessed by the love he instilled in his grand daughter and our daughter-in-law Michelle Martinez Bassett; and the extension of that love to our son, Josuha, and our grandson Benicio Luis Martinez Bassett. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jose, Pat and the Martinez family. Go with God Manny, your love and spirit live on here in this world.

Grandpa was a central part of all of our lives and will be sorely missed. From the backyard parties in Wheeling with the little lit-up owls, to the too-big Christmas star on his roof every year, to the big, whole family get togethers in Texas, Grandpa knew how to light up a room and connect us all together. He devoted years of his life to collecting our family's history so that we would always know and take pride in who we are and where we come from. We love you, Grandpa!

My brother and I were blessed to "Manny"s sons. He taught us how to grow as men in the lord. He blessed everyone who knew him. He was respected and loved by so many friends and relatives.
