Marcia Davis Obituary

Marcia Ellen Davis, 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 1, 2015 after a sudden stroke. She is survived by her long-time friend, Natalie Irrera, and her beloved dog, "Liz." She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude F. and Minnette Wheelock Davis.

Marcia was born in Salina, Kansas on July 20, 1931. She attended Wheaton College in Illinois and earned a Master's Degree from Colorado State College in Special Education for the Visually Handicapped. She was an elementary teacher at the Colorado School for the Deaf and the Blind in Colorado Springs for 21 years.

After retirement from teaching, Marcia was a volunteer at the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region for 24 years, primarily working in the Cattery. She was Volunteer of the Year in 1996. Marcia was a compassionate advocate for all animals and supported many local and national animal charities. Feline rescue groups were especially dear to her heart. She will be greatly missed by her many friends.

An outdoor Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Nancy Lewis Park, located 1 block south of Fillmore St. on Templeton Gap Road.

Precious Marcia. Where would I be without your loving, giving patience with me in my searching teen years with Young Life. You were my life guide to the Lord and friend when I needed one so badly. I praise the Lord for you and how He used you in so many lives. You may not have had physical children, but you had hundreds and hundreds of spiritual kids. Thank you, Marcia, for letting the Lord use your life. I am looking forward to seeing you soon.

I shall miss you so much. Unfortunately, I can't make it to the memorial service! (School, weather, plans that were postponed due to weather, and SNAFU got together.) Have a great time at the Rainbow Bridge, Marcia. I'm sure there are many thankful cats there to greet you. It was wonderful knowing you! You are an awesome person!
