Marcia Mazurowski Obituary

Mazurowski
MARCIA TEKLA MAZUROWSKI
February 25, 1933 March 27, 2021
Marcia Tekla Mazurowski passed away peacefully on March 27, 2021 due to cardiac and Alzheimer's complications. She was born in Buffalo, NY to Ignace Gusch and Pearl Piontek on February 25, 1933. Marcia's first memories were of going to the local Carnegie library. An avid reader her whole life, her favorite genres were murder mysteries and Victorian novels. Extremely smart and very competitive, she won a scholarship to the Nardin Academy, the local Catholic High School. After graduating as the valedictorian of her Class of 1950, she was swept off her feet by the dashing WWII veteran, Richard Mazurowski. Recalled for the Korean War, the couple was stationed on Guam and decided to make the Air Force a career. Subsequent assignments included Orlando, St Louis, Bermuda, Scott AFB, and the Air Force Academy. Marcia was the consummate Air Force wife as she hosted many parties in her home and once served as President of the Officers Wives Club. Following her husband's retirement in 1974, she went to work for 17 years in her dream job as a clerk at the Air Force Academy Library. By the age of 22, Marcia had three sons: Paul, David, and John. All three went to the Air Force Academy, became military pilots, and then flew commercially. Flight privileges on Delta, American, and Southwest enabled her to travel to many locations around the world including England, Wales, East and West Germany, Argentina, China, and Hawaii. Marcia will be especially remembered not only for the infinite love she had for her sons, but also for her incredible hospitality to all their cadet classmates. Mary Thieme was a special friend with whom Marcia enjoyed walking, doing crossword puzzles, and watching the Avalanche. Marcia was predeceased by her husband, Richard, and her younger brother, Norman. She is survived by her three sons and their spouses: Paul (Mike) of Hilo, Hawaii, David (Florencia) of Morristown, New Jersey, and John (Kaille) of Monument, Colorado. Marcia especially loved spoiling her grandchildren Liam and Sophie and often called them "movie stars!" She was a tough, fiercely independent woman who would always let you know that she was 100% Polish! The family would like to thank Laura Kozlowski and her wonderful team at Liberty Heights Memory Care for giving her such loving care over the last five years. Instead of a formal service, Marcia asked for family and friends to say a prayer for her. Please consider donating to the Alzheimer's Association in her memory.
