Margaret Johnson Obituary

Margaret "Peggy" Johnson passed away peacefully, just short of her 99th birthday. Peggy Wilmot was born July 9, 1918 in Oak Park, Illinois. In third grade, she met the love of her life and future husband of 53 years, Milton Johnson.

Peggy and "Mitt" settled on the Gold Camp Road above Colorado Springs in 1952. Theirs was the house with Christmas lights on all year long. Peggy loved life and woke up cheerfully every morning of hers. She was especially fond of children and babies, and was " Aunt Peg" to a wide circle of family and friends, and considered herself fortunate to be able to adopt their three children, Laird, Todd, and Barbara. An animal lover, Peggy always had dog "fur" friends by her side.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband Mitt and son Todd. She lives in memory with her son Laird (Ginny) of Woodland Park, daughter Barbara (Joel) of LaPorte; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

We are grateful to Pathways Hospice for their care and services in the last few weeks of Peggy's amazing life; please consider memorial donations to hospice organizations. The family will celebrate Peggy's life privately.

"Peggy would have been a wonderful woman to know. I spoke with her by phone just once as she told me of her pride in her children.
