Margaret Joyce Obituary

Peacefully, Margaret Reynolds Joyce, shed her earthly bonds on July 21, 2005, to receive the loving embrace of her Lord and Savior. A vibrant and enchanting spirit, she now lives in the heavenly kingdom with the faithful and chosen. She began her earthly journey in Great Falls, Montana on November 9, 1944, as the daughter of the late Earl Reynolds and Martharose (Houck). Early in life she elected nursing as a profession and devoted her energies and compassion in service to others throughout a long and dedicated career. During that period she joined with her husband of 36 years in a new venture as a military spouse traveling in country and the Far East continuing to give care and comfort to those in need. Settling in Colorado Springs in 1986, her son Jonathan sparked a zeal for education. She was instrumental in creating new programs for gifted children and ceaseless in her fundraising and support for local schools. Her laughter and smile drew friends to her side from across the community. More recently, Marty turned her attention to the special needs of the elderly and seriously ill. She was a diligent advocate for the issues affecting seniors, Alzheimer's education, Breast and Ovarian Cancer Awareness and numerous Community Outreach programs. A passion close to her heart was the Ukraine Outreach Group that has helped so many less fortunate. Marty was an extraordinary woman whose absolute faith, devotion to service, wit and charm touched all who met and knew her. She was enchanting by her presence and an inspiration to others to be involved and support efforts to improve human conditions. She was a Master Gardener and environmentalist with a protective love for all of nature and could nurture to health even the most desperate plant. She will be missed greatly by every being that had the privilege to have her in their life. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband, Nathan; son, Jonathan; sister, Grace Combs; uncle, Martin Houck; many nieces and nephews, and dear friends. The family will receive visitors on July, 26, 2005 from 2:00 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Swan Law Funeral Directors followed by a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held 27 July, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 4925 N Carefree Circle. A reception will follow. Committal will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made in her memory to the Ukraine Outreach at Holy Apostles or the National Ovarian Cancer Awareness, 910 17th St. NW, #413, Washington DC 20006.

Nathan, my heart hurts for you and Jonathan. No words, no actions can take away the deep hole Marty has left in each of your lives. When your feeling down, close your eyes and see her beautiful face that was so in love with you. When I first met Marty, I was amazed at her love for you. You are truly a blessed man to have spent your married life with such a loving woman. God Bless you and Jonathan.

What a lovely tribute to Marty in the Gazette. She was such a beautiful, caring soul, so selfless in her love for others, and such an inspiration to me personally. Her deep faith in God and her love for all she knew will always be a special tribute to her memory. I will miss her deeply. We will continue to keep you in our hearts and our prayers.
