Margaret Kosley Obituary

Margaret Elizabeth 'Peggy'(Smith) Kosley went to her heavenly home August 19, 2017. She was born in Ramah, Colorado on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 1930 to Charles and Grace Smith. She grew up in Ramah, graduating salutatorian of her high school class. Soon after graduation she went to work for the "White House", the government office in Simla, Colorado where she processed wheat loans for most of the counties in Eastern Colorado. On February 28, 1954, she married the love of her life, James Howard 'Jim' Kosley and the two went to live in Colorado Springs where Jim worked. In 1963, Jim transferred to Pueblo where they lived for 53 years. During that time, she worked at the University of Southern Colorado in the film library department and then later, she worked as a bookkeeper for an industrial gas firm that she retired from at the age of 62.

Jim became involved with the Elks organization, opting to progress thru the 'chairs'. Peggy fully supported him in this and found herself at the center of planning and hosting many events. She made numerous friends all over the state and across the country. The went to many national conventions and enjoyed touring Chicago, Dallas, Las Vegas and St. Louis and New Orleans.

Peggy was dedicated to her daughter as well. She patiently helped with homework, tirelessly drove her to many school and church activities and helped her bake many, many batches of chocolate chip cookies.

Aside from the travel with the Elks, Peggy and Jim enjoyed cruising, going to Alaska, the Caribbean, thru the Panama Canal, and an extended South Pacific trip from Australia and New Zealand thru Samoa, Fiji and ending up in Tahiti.

Peggy loved her nieces and nephews. She took a great deal of interest in what they did and kept track of their many activities. Her niece and god-daughter, Patty, loved Elvis Presley movies and Peggy attempted to take her to all of them.

At King of Kings Lutheran Church, she was an active volunteer. She taught Sunday School, served as a greeter and as member of the altar guild. She and Jim regularly ushered as well.

Peggy was an avid hockey fan. She knew all the teams, the arenas they played in, the standings and which players were the best looking. She looked forward to the season and during the playoffs made brackets to track how the teams did. When the season was over, she was already counting down the days to when the next season would start.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Jim, and daughter, Penny, both of Loveland. She is preceded in death by her daughter Pam, sister Grace and parents Charles and Grace.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday, August 24 at King of Kings Lutheran Church 2561 Vinewood Lane in Pueblo, CO. There will be a luncheon to follow.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to memorial funds at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loveland, CO, or King of Kings Lutheran Church, Pueblo, CO.

Aunt Peggy was so easy-going. I will miss her laughter and our shared love that diet Pepsi can cure all sins and make life better. When I was with Aunt Peg, I felt close again to Uncle Robert and Aunt Grace and I could feel that closeness she had with Aunt Grace. She was a pretty special lady and I will especially miss her very much whenever our family is together.
