Margaret Martin Obituary

Margaret Martin was born on June 15, 1953 to James Virga and Margaret Caffyn in Clifton, New Jersey and died on May 1, 2014 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Margaret Martin was unconventional. She was our go-to "doer," our rock. She called herself the "Kool-Aid Mom" of the neighborhood.

She was the best cook on the block and the one to go to if you needed a fighter or an uncensored, honest opinion. Coming in at 60", most would not find her intimidating, but she was as tough as nails. When taking a stand on an issue, there was no shaking her resolve; she was not afraid to go against the grain to do what was right, seek a better way, and get things done. She never did the bare minimum; she continually sought out the exceptional. Guests coming into our house could expect to be warmly welcomed with hospitality and a required minimum thirty-five minute conversation about her spiritual beliefs. She could talk!



Margaret loved rocks, the mountains, and food (may no butter be spared). From making candles or jewelry to refinishing furniture, she loved creating things with her hands and she always dreamed big. Her heart was devoted to God and to our family.

She was our friend, confidant, and fighter, but most of all she was "Mom," and we will always love her very much.

A Graveside Memorial will be held at 1:00PM, Sunday, May 11, 2014, at Evergreen Cemetery, Block 23 50 SE. Please bring a small (fits in your hand) rock and a chair if you would like to sit.
