Margaret Williams Obituary

Williams
Margaret Ann
(Robinson) Williams
December 31, 1935
April 20, 2022

Margaret Ann Williams, our loving mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2022. Born December 31, 1935, in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, to Loyd Robinson and Gertrude (Courtright) Robinson, she had one brother, Robert P. Robinson (deceased).

She is survived by: two children Fred (Vicki) Williams and Sondra (Dave) Bourgault, two grandchildren Gabrielle and Madeline Bourgault, and nine nieces and nephews.

After growing up in Oklahoma, she and her former husband, Richard Williams, moved to Wichita, Kansas, and eventually settled in Colorado and started their family.

Margaret was a devoted mother and was thankful to work part-time and be available for her children before and after school. She took great pleasure in fixing nice breakfasts and fun snacks after school. In those days, her version of a smoothie was a milkshake with a raw egg.

Singing was always important to Margaret. She started voice lessons at 15 and continued her musical passion throughout her life in various forms such as: church choirs, solo work, and the Colorado Springs Chorale.

Margaret began selling real estate and eventually moved to the lending industry, where she had a very successful career for 20 years. A personal highlight was receiving the Public Service Member of the Year Award given annually by the Colorado Springs Board of Realtors. She was grateful for the respect from her peers and appreciative of the numerous business awards she received. She was thankful for the lasting friendships she formed along the way.

Upon retirement, Margaret was excited to spend more time with her grandchildren, in addition to traveling, hiking, and gardening. One of her favorite activities was getting together regularly with a lifelong group of church friends called the Lunch Bunch.

Margaret had many interests and was an avid volunteer for many organizations including: Portia, PEO, book club, the Historic Preservation Alliance, First United Methodist Church, Chancel Choir, and Berean's Sunday school class. As a parish caller for the church, she traveled to multiple hospitals to visit many patients.

She was very active in the community and always enjoyed meeting and helping people. When she heard of someone in need, they would soon enjoy the benefits of her homemade chicken and noodles, bread and delicious jams. She was well-known at the church for her peanut brittle where she would donate 20 pounds for their annual fundraiser. The family cherishes her cookbook she made with her treasured recipes.

Special thanks to Margaret's wonderful friends for their love, prayers, and many cards during her illness. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness to all, and always aspired to give more than she received.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Women or John Wesley Ranch at First United Methodist Church.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 25 at 2:30 at the First United Methodist Church, 420 North Nevada Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80903.

Dear Fred, Sondra and family,
I just discovered that Margaret passed away. I am so sorry. She was my first cousin and I always looked up to her and enjoyed her visits to Oklahoma. She was a wonderful, gracious person.

I called several months ago and she was visiting a neighbor and didn´t call me back. I´m so sorry I didn´t call her back sooner.

I know she left a huge void. I´m praying for your family.

I'm so sorry to hear that Margaret passed away. She was a very special person and like a second mother to me when I lived in Colorado Springs many years ago. She hosted my wedding shower, sang at my wedding, and always kept in touch. I'll really miss hearing from her! Every time we spoke, she mentioned Sondra, Fred, their spouses and her grandchildren.....you were so greatly loved! My sincere condolences on the loss of your wonderful mother.
