Margie Thurman Obituary

Margie Thurman, 61, passed away peacefully, June 18, 2006 at her residence in Colorado Springs, CO, after a courageous 17 year battle with cancer. She was born October 2, 1944 in Hedrick, IA. and lived in Ottumwa, IA. for many years before moving to St. Augustine, FL and finally to Colorado Springs. She was an artist, a writer and a storyteller. Margie crafted elaborate marionettes by hand, sculpting their intricate faces and hands, designing and sewing their costumes and writing and telling their unique and colorful stories. She is survived by her two sons: Lon Thurman and Wes Thurman; her three grandchildren; her mother, Joanna Swearingen and her brother, Lynn Swearingen. She was preceded in death by her father, Vernon Swearingen.
