Ms. Margo McMillen, passed away Saturday, June 10th, 2023 in her home of 58 years in Colorado Springs, Colorado,
Margo was born on Sept 30, 1932 to Manuel and Clementina Davalos, in Mexico City.,
She attended boarding School at St. Marys of the Pines, in Chatawa Mississippi, where she graduated as class Valedictorian. She returned to Mexico City to attend Mexico City College where she met her late husband James McMillen.
Margo and James were married in 1950, as an Air Force Family, they enjoyed assignments in Riverside CA, Morocco, Virginia, and Germany, before settling in Colorado Springs in 1965. They raised a Family of seven Children. James passed away in 1972..
Margo completed her BA at UCCS and received her Masters in French from Colorado College.
She taught French and Spanish at Coronado High School for 25 years where she was always one of the Students favorite teachers. She loved teaching and engaging with the students, even if some of them were "Dumb Bunnies" at times. She always made her class fun and filled with energy. She led her students on summer trips to France and Mexico many times, and always had amusing stories about those trips. She also taught at UCCS and Fountain Valley High School.
Margo was an avid Tennis Player, She played into her mid 70s. She was a fixture at Lynmar Racquet Club. She met the second love of her life in England, Graham Hawtin. They were married from 1992, until he passed. Margo continued her passion for travel especially in France and Mexico, where she has a large extended family. She hoped to pass her love of languages and travel to her children and grandchildren. Her French worksheets, "la rose est une fleur" were a favorite of her grandchildren.
Above all Margo was known for her unconditional love of her family and her exceptional zest for living life. Whether it was a delicious paella, a glass of French wine or a cold glass of water, she found joy in the simple things of life.
Margo is survived by her sister, Sarah Davalos, her seven children, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
