Mom... Your two year anniversary is upon us and you have been on my mind this past week. I am so sorry for two weeks that you had to suffer but, knowing now that you are at peace and in Dad's arms. At times I can feel your presence with me and I will remember the fun times we had wheather it was going to a movie or just talking. I wish you were here to meet your new great-grandson he is precious and is always pointing at the pictures I have hanging in your old room. I tell him it's his great grandpa and Nana. He just gives me a smile as if he already knows you. Mom I miss you and Dad terribly. I Love you both dearly....Loretta

Mom I cannot believe that you left us a year ago March 29, 2006. I miss you dearly. Went up to visit you yesterday but, was very cold and snowing.The snow was beautiful and I can remember you saying it was much prettier to look at then go outside. Your grandchildren say hello. Hi Mom and Dad.. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! I missed you so much this year and had some tearfull moments. I know that you and Dad were with us spiritually but missed hearing your voices and listening to your stories Mom. Dearest Nana,

They say, "When God closes a door, He opens a window...when one life is lost, another is born..."

How true, as the news of a pending birth for our family came just after we said goodbye to your physical presence in our daily lives. What a blessing for the family to look forward to after a year of so much loss.

CONGRATULATIONS Nana, on the birth of little Carson James, your 7th great-grandchild, born 7th November 2006!!!

Despite our losses we have much to be thankful for this year Nana...you & little Carson most of all.

THANK YOU for watching over us. THANK YOU for meeting Jake & Copper as they too left us so unexpectedly this year. THANK YOU Nana, for your gentle, calming spirit, unconditional love & unwaivering support.

Mom, Its been two longs weeks since you have left us. You are on my mind everyday and everywhere we went together you are their with me. You now have Jake to guide you on your journey wagging his tail and barking (speaking). He loved you so much even though he is not with us anymore we know that he is with you and not suffering. In the middle of my life when I had M, I stumbled, you caught me and sent us on our way.

At the end of your life when I stumbled and fell, your faith picked me up, wiped me off and now I am on my way.

To all the very dear Family of Maria Lucero; My husband and I send our very deepest sympathy and love and prayers to you. As a child growing up in Palmer Lake knowing and playing with the Lucero kids; I also remember wonderful memories of Maria and Arnold both. Such kind loving parents and friends they both were. I too, remember, when Patti and I would play, going into the Lucero Home, with the smell of tortillas, and all kinds of other "goody" smells! What a wonderful legacy your parents have left all of you Lucero Kids! We love you and Pray for God's special love to wrap around you all! I will miss your mother, as you all do! I would like to send a card,but have no address.

Nana, Thank you for all that you have done for me and taught me. You will always be one of my favorite people in this world. You were always so good to me and I have been blessed to have you as a grandma. I will treasure the memmories that I had with you and I know that you will be with me always. The emptyness that I feel inside is comforted because I know you are up above smiling down and will be our angel always. I love you nana! ~Heart and Soul~

We were a witness to Maria's loving influence through those that her life touched - especially Loretta, Ed, Ryan, Jan and Rene, who took us in as part of their family as well. That wonderful influence will always live on through those who carry it with them. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Maria, and with your family who will miss you dearly.

Having been adopted into the family, I have truly seen Maria's loving influence. Although it has been a difficult road, may she finally have peace in the arms of her beloved husband. Much love to all, and know that we are keeping each of you in our prayers. I wish we could be there with you to remember, grieve, and celebrate her life.

Just a few poloroids in my mind, from a truly magnificent lady:



1. I'm in the 5th grade, I come over to pick up Jr, Bobby and Dennis to walk to school. The smell of tortillas from scratch, eggs, bacon, the ever present cast iron skillet. Everyday she sends me off with breakfast, treating me as one of her own, even though she has 9 other mouths to feed. I guess it was ONLY 7 since Loretta and Darlene had moved out of the house at that point.



2. Maria and Arnold watching the Johnny Cash show on TV. She with her knitting needles. We were always invited to watch, but God help you, if you got between them and the Broncos.



3. When Arnold and Cathie got married, Maria made sure that my suit was pressed, Shirts ironed...Teeth brushed! I didn't go back to Oregon for three weeks after the wedding. We had long conversations about life, and families. Her kindness and love only grew with age.



I'm sorry I wasn't with everyone today. All I can tell you all is that she was one of the great influences in my life. She will be forever missed.

We loved Maria with all our hearts and she helped us raise two delightful boys to maturity. We could not have done it without her and we already miss her terribly. We send much love to her family.

Dear Sis, How can I tell you how much you have always meant to me. You spoiled me, loved me and the last thing you said to me was "I will always be there for you". All the good times we had doing things for Mom and Dad. Fixing good things to eat. We seemed to eat a lot, it was the co. that was so great. I will love and miss you forever. Your Sis

Nana, I love you for all eternity. There isn't a day that goes by when I don't think of you. I will never forget making salsa with you and grandma and grandpa Salazar or spending time with you in the Toyota at Dennis's broomball games. I will also never forget the time that January and I tried to make your sopapillas and we started a grease fire in the kitchen! I know you will always be with me, I love you.

Thanx mom for bringing your special light into our home when we were fortunate to have you. I love you and will miss you. I'll always be thinking of you through this life and if I live my life the way you lived yours, we'll hook up again in the next one

Aunt ollie, you were not just my aunt, you were my godmother to. I remember how you held my face in your hands and kissed my cheek, just like grandma did, I will always remember that. Even tho I was so far away you were always in my thoughts. I love you and miss you, and now you are free to be with the angels god bless you and keep you.

Mom, having you as part of our lives for 55 years and especially the last 3 in our home have been priceless. We will miss your sopapillas, tortillas, beans, pork chili, rolls, and stories. We cherish the memories we have shared and will love you always.
