Maria Schultz Obituary

Maria Schultz, age 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 11, 2007 at her family home in Colorado Springs after a lengthy battle with cancer and other medical problems. Maria was born on May 10, 1922 in Zagreb, Yugoslavia. On September 1, 1948, Maria married William O. Schultz, whom she met after World War II in Linz, Ausria. Maria is survived by her husband, William O. Schultz (Bill) and one son, Charles W. Schultz. As the wife of a US Army Officer she was always very active in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and other youth activities, Officer's Wives Clubs and social endeavors as well as an avid champion bowler, winning many awards. After her husband's retirement from the US Army and returning to Colorado in November 1973, Maria became active as a Life Member in VFW Post 3917 Ladies Auxiliary activities by participating in many fund raising projects, Post parades, Post decorating committee and special events planning. She was also elected an Auxiliary Officer on several occasions. Visitation will be held from 4-7PM, Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at Dove-Witt Family Mortuary, 6630 S. Highway 85/87, Fountain. A celebration of her life will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 331 Main Street, Security, on Thursday, May 17, 2007 at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs after the church service.
