Marie Udell Obituary

Marie M. Udell, a lifetime resident of Colorado Springs, passed away on April 18, 2011 due to complications of a fall. Marie was born July 30, 1920 in Denver, Colorado. She was the eldest of five children born to Silas and Margaret Maupin. She moved to Colorado Springs at age 3. Marie attended school at Columbia and Whittier Elementary, West and South Junior High School and graduated from Saint Mary's High School, class of 1938. Marie was married to John L. Udell on April 28, 1939, whom she met at age 15, when they both attended South Junior High School. She spent her younger years as a homemaker and mother to five children. Marie went to work for the Sinton Dairy, then in 1969 for the Ampex Corporation until her retirement in 1990. She volunteered for 14 years at the Golden Circle Nutrition Center until ill health at age 87 forced her to stop. Marie was an avid reader, also enjoying crossword puzzles. She loved flowers, especially Gladiolas and African Violets. She loved Sheltie dogs and raised 3 of them over the past 15 years. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, two sisters, Genevieve Harris and Pauline Kochevar, two brothers, Robert Maupin and Donald Maupin, her oldest son, Richard M. Udell and 2 grandsons, David Mark Mueller and David Andrew Whitley. Marie is survived by three daughters, Joan E. Teakell and Carol (Bob) Mueller of Colorado Springs, Margaret (Don) Hogan of Centennial, Colorado, one son, Robert (Susan) Udell and one daughter in-law, Mary A. Udell all of Colorado Springs, 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In memory of Mom the family requests attendees wear bright colors, especially her favorite, PINK. Dear Great Grandma,

Over the years I wish I got to see you more. You were always so beautiful and vibrant and very free spirited. Your love was always a blessing and you were always so warm and smiling. I remember sleeping on your couch when I was in high school because I had strep throat and you just sat in your chair across from me quiet and pleasant. I didn't get to tell you enough that I love you but I thought of you often and will love you until we are reunited. Rest In Peace my beautiful great grandmother and may you forever be remember and loved.
