Marilee Thiel Obituary

Marilee Thiel passed away peacefully to be with her Lord, on August 20, 2016. After a two-year decline in health, she was diagnosed in June 2016 with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). She was born on October 13, 1932 in Canon City, Colorado to Charles W. Mann and Pauline Carothers Mann. Marilee was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Charles (Chuck) Mann.

Marilee married Jack Thiel on September 30, 1950 in Raton, New Mexico and had an amazing life together for nearly 66 years. They hold many wonderful memories of traveling and socializing with many of their treasured friends. She and Jack loved traveling annually to the Kewpie Fest in Branson, Missouri.

Marilee's mother had been a renowned doll maker so she grew up loving all her baby dolls and had a collection of many. One of her favorite doll collections was the whimsical Kewpies.

Marilee loved life, family and friends and lived a very active, social lifestyle making many life long friends along the way. She was a member of the Colorado Springs Antique Doll Club, Pikes Peak Model A Club, VMCCA, Pueblo Model A Ford Club, and Studebaker Club. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and participated in a women's Bible Study, which was precious to her.

Marilee had a million dollar smile for all those she encountered even in her last day with us. She will be missed by many who loved her.

She is survived by her four children: Michael J. Thiel (Carmen), David C. Thiel (Felicia), Karen Stokes (Steve) and Kristy Henning (Alan). Marilee cherished all of her nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held Friday September 2, 11am at First Presbyterian Church, 219 E. Bijou St, Colorado Springs, CO. Following the ceremony there will be a light lunch and fellowship for sharing memories.
