Marilyn Olin Obituary

September 14, 1932 - March 18, 2008. Marilyn was born September 14, 1932 in Colfax, WA to Carl and Louise Wood. She passed away on March 18, 2008 in Colorado Springs, CO from cancer which she had fought for the last few years. Marilyn also suffered from rheumatoid arthritis for many years. But consistent with her wonderful attitude she never complained. After graduating from Washington State University she became a stewardess for United Airlines. While flying out of Denver she met her future husband, Kent Olin. They were married on May 27, 1956 in Denver. During their almost 52 years together they were more than a loving wife and a loving husband. Theirs was a wonderful partnership. By working together they were able to enjoy reasonable success and happiness. During the early years of marriage Marilyn worked for Phillips Petroleum. In 1971 they moved to Boulder, CO where Marilyn became a volunteer at the Boulder Community Hospital which brought her great satisfaction and the opportunity to make many friends. In 1974 they found themselves in Colorado Springs where she was able to continue her volunteer work at Penrose St. Francis Hospital as well as serving on many community boards. As she always had been, she continued to be a major factor in her husband's career for which he will always be grateful. In 1985 Marilyn became president elect of volunteers at Penrose. Unfortunately a move to Denver didn't allow her to serve her term. After several years in Denver, Marilyn and Kent returned to Colorado Springs to enjoy their retirement. In addition to her husband Marilyn is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Gloriann and Jack Hallett of Phoenix, AZ, nieces Claudia Roemmer and her husband Jim of San Francisco, CA, Christy Hallett of Scottsdale AZ, Cathy Wiebe and her husband Mark of Denver, CO, a nephew Craig Hallett and his wife Peggy of Vancouver, WA, grand nieces Carly Roemmer, Taylor Wiebe, Collier Wiebe, grand nephews Christopher Roemmer, Gunner Wiebe, Cory Hallett and his wife Hillary, Matt Hallett, and a great grand nephew Maverick Hallett. As all who knew her would agree, Marilyn was an extraordinary lady, loved and admired by all. She cared for everyone and everything and seldom, if ever, had a negative thought about anyone. She will be missed beyond words. Memorial donations can be made to Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation or to the Humane Society of Colorado Springs, CO. Following cremation a private service will be held.
