Marilyn Raskob Obituary

Marilyn Ann (Claypoole) Raskob, beloved and awesome mom, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend passed away at home on May 12. Marilyn was born on April 1, 1937 in Omaha, NE to Elvyn S. "Clay" and Edith Marie (Wombacher) Claypoole.

Marilyn attended St. Scholastica Academy in Cañon City and graduated from Longmont High School. She attended Colorado College, where she studied medical technology and was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority.

Marilyn married Anthony Raskob and with him, lovingly raised four children, Bill, Tim, and Brenda of Colorado Springs and Teri of Denver.

Marilyn was an avid bowler and cunning bridge player. She enjoyed long walks with her beloved dog, Pommie, travelling and cooking. She loved her family and was the focal point for many happy gatherings - birthdays, holidays, and special occasions. She was very involved at her parish, Sacred Heart, and an active member of her sorority. She loved spending time with friends, going to the theatre, and trying new restaurants. She volunteered her time visiting the infirm, and was a loyal help to friends with shopping trips and doctor visits.

She is survived by her four children and spouses, Bill and Jorji, Teri, Tim and Kathryn, and Brenda, seven grandchildren, Jim Douglas, Will Raskob, Katie Raskob, Henry Raskob, Kaitlyn Douglas, Daniel Raskob and Matthew Raskob and great-grandson, Jason Douglas. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Barbara Claypoole of Hingham, MA and Naples, FL and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Marilyn will be held on Monday, May 19, 2014 from 5:00 - 7:30 pm at Blunt Mortuary, 2229 W. Colorado Avenue. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. with a time of visitation from 9:30 - 10:15 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2030 W. Colorado Avenue, Colorado Springs.

Brenda, your Mom was one of the people I always couldn't wait to see when she brought in her papers for her tax return. I'm so glad I got to talk with her just last month. Please know that we will miss her greatly here at Osborne, Parsons & Rosacker.

Tim & Brenda, my condolences to you & your family. Your mom was a very special woman, I often thought of the times we spent together, her smile and encouraging words during my difficult time. She shared healing words that I still carry with me today. My heart hurts for you all, but know that she has gone on to be with our Lord. May the peace of God and the comfort of the Holy Spirit be with you during this difficult time. If you ever need me please let me know, you both mean so much to me, I never forgot your kindness, you're in my prayers. Melva

Tim, Brenda, Teri, and Bill it is with a heavy heart to tell you all I am so sorry for your great loss. Mrs. Raskob was admired by all. She was one of the kindest people I have known the majority of my life. She always had kind things to say and she was always positive. My last conversation with Mrs. Raskob was a couple of weeks ago and she was telling me how proud she was of all of her children and grandchildren. She said she had great children and was blessed. My prayers are with all of you at this difficult time. She will be missed by many of us who were honored to know her. God bless all of you and just know the Duran family is here for all of you.
