Marilyn Jean Thompson, 69, of Hillsboro, died unexpectedly Friday, May 23, 2014 at Highland District Hospital.
She was born June 23, 1944 in Leesburg, the daughter of the late Stanley and Dorothy Hamilton Cox.
Marilyn worked at Service America and Robertshaw for several years. She attended the Samantha Free Will Baptist Church and loved cooking, baking, crocheting and gardening.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond Thompson, whom she married in November 1963; two children, Tony (Mary) Thompson of Hillsboro and Angela J. Thompson of Hillsboro; four grandchildren, Stephanie (Brad) Garman of Hillsboro, Ashley Gabbard of Hillsboro, Scott Thompson of Hillsboro and Dylan Hacker of Hillsboro; three great-grandchildren, Noah Garman of Hillsboro, Ryan Garman of Hillsboro and Madison Shaffer of Hillsboro; nine siblings, James A. (Carol Sue) Cox of Huber Heights, John (Jan) Cox of Faucett, Mo., Elizabeth (Walter) Clifton of Sabina, Nancy (Gene) Jarrell of Sabina, William (Elaine) Cox of Raleigh, N.C., Joseph Cox of Palmetto, Fla., Roger (Brenda) Cox of Hillsboro, Cheryl Savage of Idaho, Ohio and Dorothy (Joe) Cox of Leesburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 29 at the Samantha Free Will Baptist Church. Brother Wiley Perkins will officiate. Burial will follow in the High Top Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.
