Marilynn Edwards lived from February 22, 1954 to June 13, 2024. Born to Robert and Lucinda Edwards, in Alexandria, Louisiana, her upbringing was spent in Saginaw, MI. In 1972, she graduated valedictorian from Saginaw High. She graduated in the top of her class with a Civil Engineering bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan in 1976. In 1994, she graduated from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs with a master's in public administration. Marilynn spent most of her career as a City of Colorado Springs employee She is survived by sisters Shirley Mahone and Mary Lou Jones; her four daughters: Aisha C. Young, Jamila Young, Imani Young, and Lateefah Young; and her four grandchildren: Maxus Young, Cameron Young, Beautiful Rebel, and Angelique Young.
Her funeral will be August 8, 2024 at 11am at Angelus Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, her family is requesting that donations be made in her name to the Pearls of the Peak Foundation of the Iota Beta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated of which Marilynn was a Life Member.
