Marion Elizabeth Collier was a lifelong Colorado resident. She was born to Clarence and Ruth Atwood on June 13, 1926 and passed away January 11, 2022. Marion attended North Junior High School, Colorado Springs High School, and Colorado College. She married Verne Collier on April 25, 1948. They were married for 74 years and were blessed with three sons David, Craig, and Brett.
Marion was an active member of the Delta Gamma alumnae, serving as president and working many years with their vision screening program testing pre-school and kindergarten children. She was the owner and manager of the Collier Rent Store for 25 years, a homemaker and gardener, and she loved to travel and play bridge. Marion had been an officer of the 50 year club at Colorado College and was still an active member. She was a past member of the Colorado Springs Country Club and the Colorado Springs Racquet Club. Marion thought her greatest accomplishment was her three sons.
She was survived by her devoted husband Verne, Craig and his wife Patty, Brett and his wife Patty, and three grandchildren – Jesse, David, and Angela. She was preceded in death by her son David and her parents.
Memorial Service will be held on July 1, 2022 at 10:30am at the First Presbyterian Church following a private inurnment. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, 30 West Dale, Colorado Springs, CO 80903 to the Delta Gamma Tactile Gallery Fund in the name of Marion Collier.
