Marjorie Miller Obituary

Marjorie Miller, 87, of Colorado Springs passed away on February 20, 2006 surrounded by her loving children. The daughter of James Edgar Schlott and Grace Cole Schlott, she was born on July 1, 1918 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She attended Iowa State University and married Alfred H. Miller on November 10, 1939. Marjorie and Alfred moved their family from Iowa to Boulder, Colorado in 1953. Marjorie retired from the University of Colorado's Student Health Center in 1980 after 20 years of service. She and Alfred moved to Canon City, Colorado in 1984 where they enjoyed their retirement years. Marjorie was involved in many ladies clubs and organizations, including PEO. She was active in the United Presbyterian Church in Canon City. She especially enjoyed gardening, cooking, entertaining, and traveling. Marjorie was known as a sweet lady who always wore a smile. She was a caring person who always put the needs of others before her own. She was a wonderful mother and wife who shared a beautiful, loving marriage with Alfred for over 64 years. Following his death in 2003 she moved to Colorado Springs. Survivors include her two sons: Dennis Miller of Southport, North Carolina and David Miller of Kingwood, Texas; a daughter, Marilyn Stewart of Colorado Springs; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. One grandchild, Courtney Miller, preceded her in death. Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 22, 2006 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Swan Law Funeral Home, 501 N. Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 23, at 1:00 p.m. at Lehmberg Chapel, First United Methodist Church, 420 N. Nevada Ave., Colorado Springs. Rev. David Freehling, United Presbyterian Church of Canon City, will be officiating. A reception will follow at Cheyenne Mountain Conference Resort, 3225 Broadmoor Valley Rd., Colorado Springs. Graveside services will be on Friday, February 24, at 12:00 noon at Green Mountain Cemetery, Boulder. Contributions may be made in Marjorie's name to Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation, 825 E. Pikes Peak Ave., Suite 600, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903
