Marjorie Pitts Obituary

MARJORIE PITTS Marjorie K. Walker Pitts, 86, a homemaker and beloved wife of Clifford A. Pitts, of Henderson, passed away peacefully at home to her glorious reward, Thursday, July 8, 2010. She was born April 19, 1924, in Yreka, Calif., and was a resident of southern Nevada since April 1951, living most of those years in Henderson. Marge and Cliff met one another in White Pine High School in Ely, in 1940 and were thrown into the turmoil of World War II just one year later. They married in 1943 and their marriage has not only survived but thrived for 67 years. Through the child rearing years in Henderson, Marge was active in PTA, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, the Black Mountain Women's Golf Association and the Southern Nevada Women's Bowling Association. Both Marge and Cliff shared a love of Big Band music, dancing, and traveling in their RV after retirement to visit many of the western states, Canada, and Mexico. Marge dearly loved spending weekends and summers in the cool Mt. Charleston air at their cabin in Rainbow Canyon over the past 40 years. At her bedside were her dedicated and loving husband, of 67 years, Clifford; daughter, Teri Pitts and her best friend, Maryann Turria; son, Gary Pitts and his wife, Glenna; nephew, James Savage and his wife, Donna, all residents of Las Vegas Valley. She was also survived by six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A private family memorial will be held Saturday, July 24, to celebrate the life of Marjorie in the pines of Mt. Charleston as she requested. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Creekside Hospice on her behalf.
