Marjory Ryden Obituary
Marjory Williams Ryden followed her wonderful husband Richard Ryden home to be with the Lord, whom she loved so dearly, Saturday, April 2, 2005. Born August 5, 1915, she was a native of Colorado Springs as was her father, her children and grandchildren and most of the great-grandchildren. She left a wonderful heritage here. She was always loving, funny, and assertive. After 89 years she still had her wonderful wit while telling the nurse in those last few minutes she was dying she said, "I wonder who will get home first me or the Pope". She left within minutes of him. A whole host of family that she loved and hugged often, survives her. She came to every one of our birthday parties. Her children are: Donald Ryden, Patty Ryden Dodder, and husband; Bill Dodder; the five grandchildren: Debbie Dodder Smith and husband Douglas Smith, Bill Dodder (Skeet) and wife, Jane Knott Dodder, Kimberli Dodder Wildenstein and husband, David Wildenstein, Richard Dodder and wife, Susan Davis Dodder, Jonathan Dodder and wife, Chandra Anderson Dodder.; all the great grandchildren: Angela Wildenstein Schertle and husband, Charles Schertle, Jennifer Houston, Austin Dodder, Beau Smith, Thomas Dodder, Samantha Smith, Mark Smith, Joshua Dodder, Khara Dodder, Spencer Dodder, Evan Dodder, Piper Dodder, Jesse Dodder, Hailey Dodder, Ashley Dodder; and great great-granddaughter Darby Bennett; all of whom are fortunate enough to live here or close to here. She had a wonderful surrogate family at Mount Saint Francis Nursing Home, who took great care of her and loved her for who she was. She was always making beaded angels and flags and baskets for those inside the nursing home and out. The quality and length of her life was enhanced because of the ministry calling of the Sisters of Saint Francis and their dedicated helpers. We will all miss her very much, but we won't forget her. Services to be on Thursday, April 7, 2005, at Woodmen Valley Chapel, at 10:30 a.m.. A reception will follow on the grounds, served by Red Hat Society. In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully requests memorial contributions be sent in Marjory's name to Mt. Saint Francis Nursing Center, 7550 Assisi Heights, Colorado Springs, 80919 to help others.
