Mark Burgess Obituary

Mark was born on September 9, 1953 to Walter Burgess and Bettie (Melbuer) Burgess in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He graduated from Wasson High School and attended Colorado State University and Western State College. Mark worked as an Architectural Draftsman for his father until his retirement. He also was an Architectural Coordinator for Stresscon for a number of years. The last five years he has resided and worked in Cripple Creek. He was preceded in death by his father in 2002. Mark is survived by his children, Cami Burgess, her partner Rocky Shepherd and his son, Brett Burgess who live in Kansas City. Also surviving him are his mother, Bettie, and her husband, Lee Baker, his sister, Kimberly and brother-in-law Victor Dahir. He also leaves aunts, uncles, cousins, and his dear friend, Irene McConnaughy. Respecting Mark's wishes, there will be no services. Cremation has taken place and his remains will be scattered in the mountains he loved at a later date. A private service for the immediate family has been held. The family feels their dear Mark is in a better place and he is at peace. We will meet again. Should you wish to remember Mark, a suggestion would be a gift to Pikes Peak Hospice.

Dearist Cami
You won't know me, but I was very close to your dad. We were house mates across (counts fingers) four different places in our 20's in the 1970's. I remember you as a toddler. I miss him, too. If you want to talk, I am here [email protected]

My Thoughts and prayers go to Mark and his family. I remember him as one of my dear friends from Wasson High School. I would have the pleasure of picking up Karen and Mark to take them to school on many occasions. It saddens me to have lost contact with him after highschool. He was a kind and loving person and will always be remembered.

May peace be with you and your family!Wow, where to begin? I have many great memories of you that I will enjoy forever. Thank you.....until we meet again my friend.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends. You were always so kind and sweet and I will treasure the memories I have of you at Wasson High School. I will never forget the day you took me skiing at Monarch. It was freezing cold, I didn't ski very well and I was so nervous because you were such a great skier. During one run I dropped my ski pole just as we were getting off the lift. You, being the gentleman, let me use one of yours. Being that I was barely five feet tall and you were a good foot taller, that pole didn't quite work out the way we would have hoped. Having finally made our way down the slope, after you retrieved my wayward ski pole, and trying not to hurt my feelings, you suggested we call it day and took me for pizza. Such a gentleman. May you rest in peace, Mark.

My sincere condolences to Mark's family and friends who all knew him as the great guy I knew when we were young! Mark was one of my pals at Wasson H.S. and I remember going places in his yellow VW bug (that I envied so much). He was a gentle spirit with never a disparaging word about anyone - a true friend! Since we reconnected at the Class of '71 reunion, I was looking forward to seeing him again in August, but I'll just have to wait a little longer. Mark, I will miss you. Be at peace.

Those bachelor houses we shared when young, that time at the Black Canyon, the 3 days in the deserted cabin in a blizzard in Taylor Park, fishing at Tellurium Lake, South Colony Creek ... Friends for life & beyond
