Orfield-Berendt
Marleen Orfield-Berendt
August 9, 1935 - Nov. 25, 2017
Longtime Westside resident Marleen Berendt passed away peacefully in her home Saturday, with her daughter by her side.
Marleen was born in Idaho. She moved to Colorado with her parents Monty & Deloise Lasher and two siblings, Eleanor Ellis and Warner Lasher in the early 1940's.
She is survived by four children, Billie Lee Orfield, Floyd Orfield, Loyd Orfield, and Christeen Orfield; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Marleen was a Chief Telecommunications Operator at Norad Space Command retiring after nearly 30 years of service. She was directly responsible for acquiring approval, and assisting in the implementation of the Norad tracking Santa Clause program during the Christmas season. This service is still available and brings joy to many children.
Marleen was an avid gardener, loved her weekly canasta, and luncheons with friends. She always shared her religious beliefs and trusted in Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Services will be held at Central Christian Church, 2002 W. Pikes Peak Ave. Saturday December 2nd at 10:30am.

I was really shocked to hear about Marleen's passing. She was a very loving and caring person. She always had my back when we worked up in Cheyenne Mountain. We had a lot of good times together. God truly got a beautiful angel. I will miss her dearly.

One of the sad things at the holidays is to find out that someone is no longer with us. I will miss Marleen's friendship and holiday greetings. Thinking of her brings back memories of working with her in the Mountain which was one of the most unique things in my life. I will always remember her. Rest in peace Marleen. My best wishes to her family as well. Peter Gray your Cheyenne Mountain friend.

I am so sorry for the loss of your precious mother. To lose a mother and father in one year has got to be the hardest thing to endure. May God be with you and your families at this difficult time. I remember them very well in the early 70"s. Carol Coca Heiland Rice.

What a wonderful lady! She was smart, witty, and always compassionate. The world will be smaller without her. Only positive things to say about her friends. Love the FB post of her enjoying her riding lawnmower!
