Marlene Biggs Obituary

Biggs
MARLENE CAROL BIGGS
November 26, 1950 December 25, 2018
Marlene Carol (Blazer) Biggs was born in November of 1950 to Harold and Audrey Blazer. The second of three girls, she was always the peace-keeper, the quiet one (but those who knew her best knew it was wise not to cross her.) She was a third generation Colorado native, born and raised in Colorado Springs. She married John W. Biggs in November of 1971, and soon after they began a family together, eventually, raising four children over their 46 years of marriage.
Marlene worked for nearly 30 years at the local telephone company (under its many different names) and did many different jobs in that time. While she was proud of this work and what it made possible for her family - she was prouder of her roles as a mother, wife, sister, and daughter. Family was everything to her. She wanted those she loved near her always and was fiercely protective of "her people" - whether by blood, marriage, or choice. She was a lover of animals and hated to see any living thing suffer. She was known for her quick wit and dry sense of humor. She was kind, sweet, and generous. Even if her family was struggling, she knew that there were others with less, and she always found a way to help.
Marlene passed away on December 25, 2018. She is preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents, Harold and Audrey; her sister-in-law and her husband, Nora and Steve Ealey; her nephews, Brandon Biggs and Travis Schulte. She is survived by her four children: Joseph, Shawn, Jennifer and Carol; sisters: Emily Minor and Sue Sheperson; brothers-in-law, Wayne Minor and David Sheperson; and many nieces, nephews, and their partners and children.
Marlene is loved and very special.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 and funeral service 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd. Entombment will be at Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Garden of Athena.
Flowers are welcome, but for those who would like, donations in Marlene's name can be made to the National Mill Dog Rescue in Colorado Springs, 13030 Herring Rd. Colorado Springs, CO 80908; milldogrescue.org.
