Marlies Magdalene Gross, age 81, passed away on April 9, 2024. She was a resident of Fountain/Colo. Springs for over 55 years after moving from Jagstfeld, Germany. She met her husband Lee in Germany while he was a soldier in the US Army. They married, had two children, David and Doreen then moved to Ft. Carson. It was a difficult time to have two children and speak little English but she loved the challenge and learned quickly to give her family what they needed. She loved hiking, swimming, exploring, 4-wheeling and especially camping. She loved life and wanted to try everything. We all loved her cooking, her feistiness and her need to question authority. We all look back and get our strength from her. She is survived by her loving husband Lee, her daughter Doreen, her daughter-in-law Jacqueline (David), her beautiful grandchildren, Alex and Katrina and her great grandchildren, Bentley and Kingston, whom she adored. She was preceeded in death by her son David.
Memorial will be determined at a later date.

I met Marlies in 1972 at the Fort Carson hospital and we kept a friendship for years. Even though I moved to Loveland CO, we spoke on the phone once in a while. She was a great lady, a wonderful cook and loved to entertain her German and American friends. I will miss her a lot.
My condolences to the family.

I´ve known Marlies and Lee since 1980s! They´ve been like family to me and to my kids! They were at my wedding I danced the dance with Lee! Lee and I had a nickname for each other you again! Marlies just laughed at the two of us Always say you´re the other daughter he never had! We talked quite often on the phone after my mom passed. I used to love going out to the house and she would surprise us with all the wonderful baked goods she had. I never told her, but she was one of the people that inspired me to go onto to become a pastry chef! I will always love and miss you! Thank you for always being a part of my life and such a special person!

I used to visit Marlies and Lee for Heartfelt at Home. They had a lovely home and I enjoyed their stories of their life there. Wishing the family peace. Lydia West, RN
