Marlon Stockton Obituary

Marlon was born in Salem, Oregon in 1956. He spent many of his childhood summers visiting his grandparents in Texas where he often mentioned cherished memories of riding horses, playing cowboy, and sharing sodas with his grandpa.

Marlon graduated from Sprague High School in 1974, and then worked for American Can Company while starting his family.

He went on to attain his bachelor's degree then began a career with the State of Oregon Employment Department, where he made many unforgettable friendships.

Marlon was a kind, intelligent, and caring man whose laughter and conversation lit up the room. He was always willing to help anyone who needed him, and routinely checked in on those he cared about to ensure that everyone was doing well.

He enjoyed long bike rides and was proud to participate in the Providence Bridge Pedal rides. He loved watching sports, listening to sports radio, and going to sporting events. He also played in numerous sports leagues throughout his entire life. He was known to be a walking dictionary of sports knowledge. And most of all, Marlon loved and worked hard for his family, for whom he created countless cherished memories where he will live on forever.

Marlon is survived by his daughters Jamie Stockton and Rachel Stockton, grandsons Logan and Oliver, sister Pamela Gahan, mother Shirley Stockton, and many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at Howell, Edwards, Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors Funeral Home, 1350 Commercial St SE, Salem, OR, on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at 2pm.

A reception will follow at the Top Dog Sports Grill, 1798 12th Street SE. Salem, OR.
