Martha Grimes Obituary

Martha Anne (Mindy) Grimes, 65, of Hotchkiss, Colorado died July 27 in Colorado Springs after a long illness. Her late husband, Ronald Earl (Ronnie) Graham, preceded her in death.

A native of Ohio, Mindy was co-editor of Stories from The Anne Grimes Collection of American Folk Music by her mother, Anne Grimes, published in 2010 by the Ohio University Press. Mindy was a gifted watercolorist, fabric artist and maker of fine jewelry. She played dulcimer and

harmonica.

Mindy was a graduate of Granville High School in Ohio and attended the University of Colorado/Boulder. Fluent in Spanish, she traveled widely with Ronnie, especially to Mexico. For many years, she worked with Ronnie building houses and operating Graham's Mobile Home Park in Colorado Springs.

Mindy is survived by her brother, Steve Grimes and his partner Janice Hardick of Westerville, Ohio; sister, Sara Grimes, of Crestone, Colorado; sister, Jennifer Kay and her husband David Kay, of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; sister, Mary Grimes of Brooklyn, New York; nephews, Eddie Hardick of Dallas, Texas, and Sean I. Kay and his wife, Anna Marie Kay of Delaware, Ohio; a godson, James Morrow; a goddaughter, Siobhan Mattie Kay, and other grandnieces Cria Anne Kay and Alana Rose Kay; and cousins, including Ronnie's cousin Kenny Florey of Simla, Colorado.

There will be no services. The ashes of Mindy and Ronnie will be scattered together in the North Fork of the Gunnison River near their ranch in Hotchkiss.

Mindy will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
