Martin Greeson Obituary

Martin Keith Greeson, 87, peacefully passed away on January 17, 2015. Keith was born in Lakin, Kansas on January 8, 1928, to Winfield Scott and Violet Serene (Barnes) Greeson and was the 4th of 5 children.

Keith was valedictorian of his high school class and attended Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas, where he met and married Nancy Louise Reighley. They enjoyed 52 happy years of marriage until her passing in 2003. After college, Keith served two years in the United States Army and then returned to Winfield where he worked at Drennan Motors before joining Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in 1955. Keith was a top salesman and top sales manager with Metropolitan in a career that spanned 28 years, leading him to assignments in Casper, Kansas City, St. Louis, New York City, Des Moines, Denver, and Cleveland before settling in Colorado Springs in 1976. He retired from Metropolitan in 1983.

Keith and Nancy opened a decorating store in 1979 and successfully operated it until 1993 when they both retired for good. They spent time traveling domestically and internationally, gardening, recreating in the mountains and spending time with family.

Keith is survived by his children: David (Jan) residing in Colorado Springs, Eric (Nancy) residing in Tucson, Arizona, Melinda (Kerry Hay) residing in Blanchard, Oklahoma, Jeff (Robin) residing in Phoenix, Arizona, and Marty (Sheri) residing in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Keith is also survived by his grandchildren: Scott, Brad, Stephanie, Shannon, Shaun, Sara, Megan, Jennifer, Melissa, Michelle, and Nicky; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings: Minnie Hefner, Thelma Krug, Denwood, and Ronald; his wife, Nancy; and his second wife, Ruth Compton.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the American Cancer Society or other charity of your choice.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
