Martin Williams Obituary

Williams
Martin "Marty" Lewis
Williams
February 29, 1948 - May 27, 2018
The Man, The Myth, The Legend
Martin Lewis Williams was born on February 29, 1948 to Ira and Jean Williams in Shenandoah, Iowa.
The curtains fell on May 27, 2018 after giving cancer one helluva ten year fight. His last days were surrounded by family and numerous friends.
Marty graduated St. Mary's High School in 1966 and attended Southern Colorado State College on a baseball scholarship. He retired a Senior Plumbing Inspector for Regional Building Department and worked 15 years part time at Home Depot.
He played years of fast/slow pitch baseball, enjoyed riding his motorcycles, loved old cars and westerns, and most of all he loved spending time with family and friends.
He was famous for being the life of the party, his wicked funny sense of humor, his one liners (both appropriate and inappropriate), and could name any song, the artist and the year it was recorded.
He taught his kids and those around him about hard work and living life to the fullest.
Life won't be the same without Marty and neither will the sales of Keystone Light.
He was preceded in death by his folks and his brother, Mark.
Marty leaves behind his wife and partner in crime of almost 48 years, Frances Williams; his two children, Shannon (Sundance) and Timothy (Heidi); and the light of his life, granddaughters, Maycie and Kallie Rogers and Brecken Williams. He also leaves behind his brother, Mike (Brenda); nieces, nephews and a community of friends that he made his family.
Please join us in celebrating his life, 11:00AM, Saturday, June 9, 2018, Living Hope Church, 640 Manitou Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80904.

I just found out about Marty.. Marty and I were best friends in high school. We played baseball together and had some fantastic camping and trips to my father's ranch in south park. He was with me when I killed my first bow and arrow deer. A tremendous friend with whom I lost contact over the years, but I will never forget the memories. To your wife and children, Marty was truly a great individual. I am sorry for your loss..George Walker

I just found out yesterday that Marty had passed and was very saddened by the news. Many of Marty's RBD friends also missed the obituary and we would have all wanted to be there to pay our last respects to him. Marty was one of my favorite inspectors and I loved his sense of humor and his genuine friendship. Rest in peace Marty and my prayers go out to your wife and family.

46 years ago while living in Manitou Springs we met a special couple, Fran and Marty. They became great friends. We even got both of them to visit us and travel east of the Mississippi to New York, where Marty drank Schaefer beer and attended a Mets game at Shea Stadium.
While raising our children and moving around we lost contact with one another. A few years ago we reconnected in Colorado. It was like we never skipped a beat. We laughed at the same things we did years ago and really enjoyed being together.
Martin was a special friend that kept us laughing. We will miss you our great friend. We hope you are enjoying Tuborg and Hot Sauce.
Fran, Shannon and Tim, we are truly sorry for your loss and will keep you in our prayers..

Marty was truly a very good friend of mine. I first knew Marty back in 1980 when I was a counter kid at Fox Supply. Marty would come in and usually give me a full ration of lets just say "Marty's wisdom". When I became a plumbing business owner and Marty was working for PPRBD he really worked with me and helped me along the way to have a successful business. I will really miss bumping in to him at Home Depot as well. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. God bless you all. Ron "RJ" Johnson

Let me tell you all about this guy.
Marty had this vision with all of us young guys, on how to install proper plumbing systems and meeting code requirements. Marty took the time to make sure we got it right. Marty elevated me to become chairman of the Colorado State Examining Board of Plumbers. Marty, I will miss you. Along with TR, now I have two lunches
you guys owe me! God bless you and your family. Rick
