Marvin Lee Thomason, 79, passed away suddenly in Colorado Springs, Colorado on June 5, 2022, at The Center At Cordera while recovering from recent back surgery.
He was born in Newton, Iowa on November 26, 1942, to Frazer and Loris (Hatch) Thomason and was the youngest of three sons.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Frazer Allen and Loris Irene Thomason.
He is survived by his children, Brad (Heather) Thomason of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Amanda (Jeffrey Klein) Thomason of Richmond, California; and granddaughter, Cora Klein; brother, Laird (Evelyn) Thomason; nephews, Drew Thomason, and Jon (Kristen) Thomason; grandniece, Mia; brother, Dave (Carol) Thomason; and niece, Kristi (Matt) Gilbreth; grandnieces, Tarah and Jolie; and niece, Melanie Peterson; grandnieces, Kjistine and Rachel.
Marv graduated from Lincoln High School in Des Moines, Iowa and went on to receive a Bachelors Degree in Political Science at Drake University, followed by graduate work at American University in Washington DC. He moved to Colorado Springs in the early seventies to work in real estate development and went on to have a life-long career self-employed as a real estate broker for Great Colorado and Pacific Real Estate Exchange, specializing in exchanging and investment properties. Marv's volunteer pursuits involved membership in Exchangers, Colorado Springs Rotary, the Colorado Springs Chorale, the Colorado Opera Festival, Abendmusik and Colorado Springs Music Theater. He was a member of First Christian Church.
In 1975, Marv married Caryl Carpenter, who shared his passion for singing and performing. They were proud parents of Brad and Amanda. He was fortunate to experience the joy of meeting his only grandchild, Cora (two). Since 2009, Marv shared his life with companion Joye Carrington of Des Moines, Iowa, who recently passed away.
Marv was charming and outgoing, graced with a beautiful tenor singing voice, strong-willed, opinionated, entrepreneurial, and always ready with a joke or a story. We will miss all of him, even the parts that drove us crazy.
